Our CSR: Products to Feel Good About

Pip and Grow CSR Pledge

Corporate Social Responsibility. CSR. Sustainability. Responsible Manufacturing. Philanthropy. These buzzwords are thrown around a lot. For some companies, they are simply a brand strategy. For Pip & Grow, they are in our DNA.

According to Investopedia, corporate social responsibility, often abbreviated “CSR,” is a corporation’s initiatives to assess and take responsibility for the company’s effects on environmental and social well being.

Gifts that Give Back

Our ethos is to leave the campsite better than we found it. We intentionally incorporated CSR into our business model at every level. How did we do it?

  • Smitten is made from recycled corrugate and can be reused or recycled when baby has outgrown it.
  • We built a manufacturing ecosystem that supports healthy American families through fair wages and humane work environments.
  • Our family-run manufacturers give back to their local communities.
  • We started a program that allows us to provide donated bassinet boxes to nonprofit organizations who care for families in need.

Turns out, people like feeling good about the products they purchase. Both Parents Magazine and Pregnant Chicken recommend Smitten as a good gift that gives back.

Why we started a buy one, give one program

When you’re pouring every cent you have into starting a new company, there isn’t much room left for philanthropy. We knew we wanted to provide bassinet boxes to families in need, but we needed to find a way that allowed us to do it without sinking the company before it even got off of the ground.

After a lot of debate, we settled on starting a buy one, give one program. Through this program, we partner with local nonprofits like 90by30 and Birthing Project USA to distribute donated boxes.

Our Partners

90by30 aims to reduce child abuse and neglect in Oregon’s Lane County by 90 percent by 2030 – 90by30. One of the mechanisms they use is the Welcome Baby Box. The package starts with a safe sleep space, a Smitten, and is stocked with parenting essentials and resources. The package became available to every baby born in South Lane County in August 2017.

Birthing Project USA also received donated boxes from Pip & Grow. After the Louisiana floods last year, we received many calls from desperate organizations trying to find portable safe places for infants to sleep. We were able to use boxes donated through the buy one, give one program to help Louisiana’s youngest citizens sleep safely after losing everything.

During this season of Thanks and Giving, we are honored to be able to give a safe place to sleep for many infants who might not have one and we are thankful for those who make it possible through their generous donations.
